Reader’s Question:

I guess I now understand that auto property damage insurance is part of my of my auto insurance liability coverage in Henderson, Nevada. Apparently the limit is significantly less than my bodily injury insurance. Is that okay?

Hello Alonso,

It seems you have a pretty good understanding of your auto insurance coverage in Nevada. That’s refreshing. Bodily injury and property damage insurance are the two components that comprise your liability package. You are correct. Like the coverages, the limits for each component are very different.

Property damage insurance covers damages to another vehicle involved in an accident with yours. It also covers all the related expenses, including the cost of the other driver’s car rental expense while his auto is being repaired. Sometimes other property s involved in auto accidents. Suppose your car knocked down a fence. That would be covered by your property damage insurance in Henderson. These claims are usually resolved by the claims adjuster who inspects all property damages and negotiates settlements with owners of damaged property.

Damages and limits related to property damage insurance are lower than limits for bodily injury. They are clearly stated on the declaration page of your policy in Nevada NV. Under the limits for liability coverage, you will see a series of three numbers. The last number is your property damage insurance limit. Those figures are multiples of one thousand. Drive safely in Henderson, Alonso.
